Kunming Medical University decided to establish the Technology Transfer Center of Kunming Medical University in March 2016, specializing in the management, service and operation of scientific and technological achievements and technology transfer on behalf of the university. It is important to strengthen the technical leadership, technical service and technology agglomeration in the medical and health field of Yunnan Province, explore the path of scientific and technological achievements and technology transfer innovation with the characteristics of Kunming Medical University, and serve the development of the country and Yunnan Province's biomedical enterprises and medical and health undertakings. In December 2016, the Center was awarded the "Yunnan Province Technology Transfer Demonstration Institution", and in June 2017, it was awarded the "Yunnan Province Science and Technology Achievement Evaluation Institution" qualification. In June 2019, Kunming Medical University decided to set up a Science and Technology Achievement Incubation Center (co-located with the Technology Transfer Center of Kunming Medical University), mainly focusing on 3 aspects: (1) the promotion and transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements; (2) Organize technology development, technology transfer, technical service, technical consultation and technical training; (3) Promote school-enterprise cooperation, jointly with laboratories or technology research and development centers, and actively carry out research and development and transformation of key generic technologies in the industry. In the same year, it was awarded the "Kunming Biomedical Science and Health Innovation Center" and the "Kunming Demonstration Service Institution for the Transfer and Transformation of Key Scientific and Technological Achievements".

By taking full advantage of resources in Yunnan, the Center focuses on basic and clinical research and product development of medical skin care products with Periplaneta Americana extract. Currently, it has been formed more than 10 achievements with independent intellectual property rights, including a series of invention patents, utility model patents, appearance design patents and trademarks. 4 new products have been transformed in advance, and the follow-up series of products are being pushed forward.

The Center will actively explore new modes and mechanisms for the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements in colleges and universities, strive to build a platform for the transfer and transformation of high-level scientific and technological achievements. The Center aims to comprehensively promote the reform and development of health undertakings in Yunnan, and improve national health level.
