KMU was founded in 1933 and became one of the first master degree awarding institutions in China in 1981. It was among the first batch of universities which were listed in the National Basic Ability Construction Project of Western and Central China. Now, it is a key provincial university and supported by Yunnan Province to develop into a “ Double First-class” university. KMU is also the Base for International Medical Talents Cultivation in Yunnan Province and was among the first batch of universities to enroll international students sponsored by Chinese Government Scholarship. Approved by the Ministry of Education, China, KMU is qualified to recruit undergraduate international students majoring in clinical medicine taught in English. Since the establishment, KMU has been committed to the innovative development of medical education and research and has become a medical university with advanced education and scientific research capabilities, taking the lead in higher medical education in Yunnan. We have 15 affiliated hospitals in Yunnan and have trained more than 200,000 medical students to serve the country and the world.
