Dear foreign experts, 

You must have learned that the outbreak of pneumonia caused by novel corona-virus has happened in China recently. Resolute efforts are being made by the government to curb the spread of the virus and more stringent measures are being taken. On this special occasion, we sincerely hope that everything is going well with you. KMU will also stand by your side in this fight against the virus. For your health and safety, we hereby make the following suggestions:

1. Given the fast spread of virus, we would strongly recommend that you stay where you are and avoid travelling, especially to Wuhan and the surrounding areas until the situation stabilizes and the warning is lifted. 

2. Avoid crowded areas and cancel parties, group dinners and other group activities. Open windows at home and indoor workplaces regularly to improve the air circulation.

3. Pay close attention to your personal hygiene habits (cover nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or flexed elbow and frequently wash your hands with soap.)

4. Wear a surgical mask when going out and change it every 4 hours. Personnel going to shopping malls, marketplace, hotel and bus should wear masks.

5. Thoroughly cook the food (especially meat and eggs); avoid contacting and eating wild animals.

6. Get enough sleep; drink plenty of water and exercise regularly to maintain your health.

7. For medical consultation service in English, please contact the hospital designated by the Department of Science and Technology of Yunnan Province: The First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University Tel:65324888 ext. 6153. 

If you need to go to the hospital, we would like to provide assistance and make proper arrangements for you.

8. If you have fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, please seek medical care immediately and report health care providers your travel history within 14 days.

9. If you once had close contact with confirmed cases, you should stay at home or under intensive medical observation as advised by a physician.

10. Now every student and staff in KMU are required to report on a daily basis where they are and how is their health. Please be aware that your school or department will contact you in due course.

11. The university will continue to closely monitor the situation, and we encourage you to keep close contact with your school and our office in case of more updates.

12.  If you are not in Kunming, please stay where you are and DO NOT come back to the university until be informed.
